5-year anniversary of the election booth -We're gearing up for an election thriller
Saturday was 100 days until the election. On Monday, Dagbladet TV visited the Norwegian Parliament, at Eidsvolls plass where the election booth will be placed in the same place as the four previous elections.
-"When we set up Dagbladet's election booth in 2013, we entered the election campaign for the first time with TV broadcasts as the mainstay of our coverage. Since then, the Election Booth has become an institution and our most important investment," says Martine Aurdal, head of the Election Booth.
Together with project manager Tanja Wibe-Lund at Dagbladet TV, she and the rest of the editorial team are now making plans for this fall's broadcasts.
-"We are gearing up for an election thriller that we will follow closely through daily live broadcasts. The content will be managed on TV, in articles, studio posts, commentaries, podcasts and print. Dagbladet's readers and viewers should be in no doubt - everything worth knowing about the 2021 election can be found on db.no," says Wibe-Lund.
And this year's host is ready, it will be political journalist and head of the political department at Dagbladet; Steinar Suvatne. He follows in the footsteps of Oddvar Stenstrøm, who led the broadcasts during the municipal elections in 2019.
"Get out your safety harness and thermometer - the Election Booth in Dagbladet always has a high temperature, a lot of nerves and sharp conflicts," says Steinar Suvatne.
He's looking forward to taking viewers on the coverage of a lifetime.
-The 2021 election will be historic regardless of the outcome, and we'll be following the drama closely in our daily broadcasts. We'll be spending time on the issues that actually matter to ordinary people across the country, and we'll be cracking down hard on platitudes and foggy talk from politicians. There will be no cuddly interviews in the election booth - guaranteed.
At Eidsvolls Plass, in front of the Storting and Løvebakken, Suvatne will lead the broadcasts in Dagbladet's traditional TV studio. Here he will provide viewers and readers with ongoing news, debates, analysis and commentary.
It happens directly in the last two weeks leading up to election day - and on the day after.
Martine Aurdal has several examples of memorable moments in Dagbladet's traditional election booth:
-This is where Abid Raja lovingly held Sylvi Listhaug before Venstre and Frp wanted to form a government together. This is where Per Sandberg has stormed out furiously several times, and where the juiciest election promises have been made.
She has no doubt that they will be setting the agenda again this year.
We expect even more this year, when we once again invite the party leaders for in-depth interviews, the toughest political opponents to duel and for daily analysis of opinion polls, initiatives and collaborative constellations.
-We're really looking forward to exposing election hoaxes and giving viewers a basis for making up their minds.
