Se og Hør won the National News Coverage of the Year award for its thorough, ethically demanding and news-leading coverage of the Borg Høiby case . The jury highlighted the editorial team's systematic work with sources, awareness of press ethics and ability to combine breaking news with investigative journalism:

Tireless and systematic work with both subject areas and sources over many years has made the editorial team the news leader on the biggest news story of the year. The story is right at the core of the social mission, and shows a knowledge and closeness to a part of the Norwegian public that few others cover more thoroughly. The editorial team has an impressive ability to combine “breaking news” with thorough investigative journalism and demanding press ethics assessments. Showing dedication and stamina to extensive source work under demanding conditions, and openness about the methods for verifying information has strengthened the credibility of a controversial case. A journalistic powerhouse that has dominated the news landscape, uncovered critical matters and had significant societal consequences

Dagbladet won the National Story of the Year for "The Dead Alone", a deeply shocking and important series about people who have been left dead alone for weeks and months, unseen and unnoticed. "The Dead Alone" combines powerful narratives with a proprietary database of such cases. About the award Dagbladet brings home, the jury writes:

Heartbreaking revelations about serious failures in society's care for its most vulnerable. Investigative journalism that, through innovative methods and tireless efforts, has uncovered a widespread social problem and serious systemic failure. The shocking stories have created national attention and led to concrete changes in the routines of the police and health authorities. The development of a special formula for identifying cases and the innovative use of Python to scrape and analyze large quantities of obituaries show enormous courage, journalistic flair and power. The balance between uncovering systemic failure and safeguarding the dignity of the deceased has been handled in an exemplary manner
