Summer chat with Christina!

We asked Christina Schanke from media agency PHD what it's like to be a video consultant from home.

How do you think working from home with meetings on Teams has worked?

Working from home has proven to work very well for many of us, but some things also work better the old-fashioned way. The threshold for making a call has definitely been lowered, whether it's on Teams or by phone. I've never talked so much with customers and colleagues without meeting them. We've still discussed and talked about everything we've needed to, and more.

Meetings have also become shorter, fewer and more efficient. We'll probably continue to do a lot of things, but there are so many good ideas that flourish when everyone gathers around a table and not just in "Together mode" in Teams.

There's been a lot of travel and activity in your job, what will it be like in the future?

Gosh, how well we've managed to adapt over the past year! Many people probably saw the dark side of conducting campaigns, seminars, competitions and payroll pilots, but it's amazing how the entire industry has managed to adapt to get things done.

Something I've experienced is that in the past, an incredible amount of time has been spent on meetings, seminars, taxis, travel and meetings that we may have streamlined by converting to digital. I think a good mix of digital and physical will be the future.

What new routines and arrangements would you like to take forward?

There are many meetings we should continue to have digitally, and prioritize meetings where it is better to meet physically. This is also a bit about the relationship between us, customers and other partner agencies.

How do you envision the rest of 2021, and what are you most looking forward to?

I think we'll probably continue with some social distancing, but that it will get better and we'll be able to meet larger groups than before. I also think there will be a lot of working from home throughout the year, but a nice rotation so we can meet on a regular basis.

Fingers crossed for this!

I have a better understanding of those who say they have "online friends", but I'm looking forward to meeting all my new colleagues in person and not just through a screen. Lunches and 5 minutes of gossip on Teams can't compare to random conversations around the coffee machine and a good old-fashioned quiz night out.

Looking forward to the next festival summer and maybe a trip abroad!

What has it been like working with Aller Media during this time when everything has been so different?

The collaboration with Aller has been as long as I have been in the industry: Impeccable! The epitome of service-minded people. The follow-up and cooperation has been at least as good as before.

We've learned to work well together digitally, and despite the challenges, we've managed to be creative and solution-oriented together.

Finally, what are your plans for the summer?

It's a Norwegian vacation for me. A group of friends are traveling on a road trip from southern Norway and end up in Åndalsnes. On the way, there will be cycling and summit hikes galore. When I'm not chasing Instagram-friendly experiences, the plan is to cruise back and forth in Blindleia Lillesand with a cold CB no more than a hand's length away!
