- "Every Norwegian developer knows a Ukrainian," says product owner and developer Jørgen Jacobsen at kode24.
- They have a lot of technologists and developers, and many of them have worked in or for Norwegian companies, either from Ukraine or here in Norway. We also collaborate with Ukrainian developers here at the company," he continues.
Kode24, the online newspaper for Norwegian developers, is now launching a dedicated landing page for vacancies that Ukrainian refugees can apply for. At kode24.no/tech-jobs-norway, the ads are translated into English, and the employers have all agreed to receive applications from English-speaking people in a difficult situation.
- At the same time as many technologists are now fleeing the country, we here in Norway have a major shortage of this expertise. So doing something to connect Ukrainian technologists and developers to Norwegian jobs felt both meaningful and completely natural," says editor Ole Petter Baugerød Stokke of kode24.
Many will contribute
- "We are shocked by the images that come out, of how an innocent population is attacked by a great power. For us, it's only natural to want to help our "neighbor" when they are suffering," Kjerstin Tollefsrød, CEO of Ludensgruppen, one of the advertisers that will now accept applications from Ukrainians, tells kode24.
- However, we feel powerless because we don't know how we can help, which is why we were very positive about this specific initiative. It gives us the opportunity to contribute. We both give and receive help, while at the same time having the opportunity to break down national borders through cooperation. There is no difference between Norwegians and Ukrainians, we are all one people!
Good experience with Ukrainians
- We have good experience with people working remotely or with us or in combination, including from Eastern Europe. If the skills and attitude are right, nationality or location doesn't matter. If we can also contribute to hope in a difficult time, then that's just a nice bonus," says CCO Kjetil Aarseth of Tikkio to kode24.
Skilled developers
- The unprovoked attack on Ukraine affects us all - it is not only an attack on a free country and people, it is also an attack on democracy and values that we hold dear," CTO Torgeir Lyngstad of Compello tells kode24.
- Compello is participating in this initiative to show our support to all peers in Ukraine who are now in a terrible situation, and because we know that Ukraine has many highly skilled developers who can quickly come in and make valuable contributions to our development projects.
