Dagbladet has passed a historic milestone, delivering the best result ever.
Last year, the newspaper made a profit of more than NOK 100 million. This is a historically high profit for Dagbladet.
The newspaper has experienced solid digital growth in recent years. Since 2018, the number of daily page views has increased by 98 percent. Dagbladet reaches 1.3 million Norwegians every day. Every week, more than 2.2 million Norwegians use Dagbladet's journalism.
-Dagbladet is a mass-distributed, tabloid national newspaper. We aim to reach large parts of the population every single day with our content. It is Dagbladet's readers and viewers who are our clients; we create journalism for ordinary people. Dagbladet is a newspaper with a heart for the weak and muscles in the face of the strong. We invest heavily in both breaking news and our own revelations. In addition, we aim to entertain by exciting, enriching and touching our readers with good journalism," says Editor-in-Chief Alexandra Beverfjord
Dagblad's strong growth in readership and viewership is reflected in revenues. Dagbladet experienced year-on-year growth last year. Revenue ended at NOK 604 million. Profit was over NOK 100 million, giving Dagbladet an operating margin of 17 percent.
Before Christmas, it was announced that Dagbladet is going through a historic investment, investing in more than 30 new full-time equivalents. In recent months, the newspaper has secured a number of new reporters. In addition, there has been a significant increase in web TV staffing in recent years, under the leadership of Mads A. Andersen.
Dagbladet's news editor, Frode Hansen, is in the process of expanding the newsroom:
-"It has been a special year in terms of journalism, where a number of major events have dominated the news. The Gjerdrum landslide, the congressional storming in the USA, the change of government here at home and another year of pandemic have all been major journalistic initiatives for us. At the same time, it has been important for us to prioritize major excavation projects. In 2022, we will have a historic increase in staffing at Dagbladet, which is a gift to our readers and viewers. We are investing heavily, and will become even better, bigger and stronger," says Hansen.
