(Elbil24): On Wednesday, the Norwegian Association of Media Companies (MBL) presented the readership figures for newspapers in Norway. It shows that the population is reading newspapers like never before, 83 percent read at least one newspaper on paper or digitally every single day.
Some media are experiencing decline, but many are experiencing growth. And some are growing much faster than others.
At the top of the list of the fastest growing newspapers is Elbil24. From the first to the second half of 2021, Norway's largest consumer website focusing on electric cars increased its readership by 27.8 percent.
- "It's good to get this confirmation that we are succeeding in what we want to be; the readers' right hand before, during and after an electric car purchase. Every month we get around 10,000 new electric car owners in this country, and the need for useful and relevant information is enormous," says Bjørn Eirik Loftås, editorial director at Elbil24.
He cites increased staffing, more frequent updates, a sharper focus on news, current affairs and consumer issues - as well as more duels and triple tests - as important measures that have contributed to the strong growth.
- We publish news, tests, tips and advice every single day, 365 days a year," says the editorial director.
The growth actually started much earlier, but really took off last fall. So did the increase in membership of Elbil24 Pro.
- Our membership club Elbil24 Pro has almost three times as many members as last summer. Members get access to all the biggest and most important tests and in-depth articles. In addition, they get discounts on everything from service, insurance, roadside assistance and essential car equipment. "The more members, the more benefits," promises Loftås.
In other words, Norway's fastest growing online newspaper has no intention of resting on its laurels in the future.
- No, we have no intention of stopping growing or getting better. In the future, there will be more video content, we will experiment with new tools and formats - and we promise to involve our readers even more in creating the best and most important stories. We're also opening up for feature articles and opinion pieces from key people within the industries and topics we write about," says Loftås.
- The most important thing is that we promise that we will continue to be Norway's most useful website for anyone interested in electric cars," he concludes.
