New this year, several car brands have the opportunity to compete in different categories
The Kantar Car Index has been calculated annually since 1999, and since 2008 has been published in collaboration with Dagbladet/Aller Media. This index aims to show how the various car brands are ranked among Norwegian new car buyers. New this year is that the survey calculates several sub-indices where smaller brands also have the opportunity to assert themselves," says Senior Advisor Anders G. Hovde of Kantar.
About the Car Index 2021
- The car index is based on 1,500 interviews with people who have bought or leased a brand new car in Norway in the last 12 months. The sample is representative of deliveries in the last 12 months (cars delivered September 2020 - August 2021), Hovde continues.
The main index, which indicates Norway's strongest brand in the automotive market, is based on the following pillars:
Familiarity - how well does the market know the different car brands
Impressions - how good or bad is the market's impression of the different car brands
Rating - to what extent the different car brands are rated when buying a new car
Preference - to what extent do customers prefer the car brand they purchased
Satisfaction - to what extent does the new car meet expectations so far
New this year
- "What's new this year is that we calculate several sub-indices, where smaller brands also have the opportunity to assert themselves," says Hovde, and the four sub-indices are
1. Strongest brand preference.
Shows the ranking of the brands according to the extent to which owners are satisfied with owning the car brand, and the extent to which they prefer this brand over other brands.
2. Best brand retailers.
Shows the ranking of the brands according to how satisfied the owners are with the dealer they bought the car from and to what extent they prefer this brand dealer over dealers of other brands. Presented at brand level.
3. Best Corona management
Shows the brand's dealer network that customers believe has handled the corona situation best.
4. Most famous newcomer
Over the past few years, we have welcomed a number of new car brands to Norway. We show which of these brands Norwegian car buyers are most familiar with.
