On Wednesday, a fresh-faced audience interested in cars filled the main hall at Hasle. Aller Media, spearheaded by Frode Hansen, editor of the daily newspaper Dagbladet, invited them to the annual Car Breakfast, where the most attractive car of the year was named.
The guests were also treated to exciting presentations and, not least, heard about the unique engine power of Aller Media.
Harald Jachwitz Andersen, Director of Bilimportørenes Landsforening, gave an insight into future car policy. Among other things, he explained how road traffic contributes to cuts in climate emissions, Norwegian targets for sales of electric cars and how the economy affects the Norwegian car fleet.
Fred Magne Skillebæk, technical editor at Elbil24, talked about the important work they do for consumers as Norway's most influential car magazine, and how they work with world-leading car manufacturers.
Sales Director Gøril Karlsen Thu and Asbjørn Halvorsen, Head of Aller Content Store, presented the unique advertising opportunities Aller Media can offer car manufacturers.
The major car index survey for 2024 was presented by Anders G. Hovde, Senior Advisor at Kantar. With as many as 48 car brands on the market, there is too much to choose from for Norwegians. They therefore gravitate towards well-known brands, so it was no surprise which car brands topped the list.
With consistently good scores on all pillars of the car index , Toyota, like last year, drove straight up to first place, and can thus claim the title of Norway's most attractive car brand. Tesla followed close behind in second place and Volvo in third.
- Toyota has a very loyal customer base that buys again and again. I'm actually a bit impressed by the grip they have on the market. They even manage to increase sales of diesel cars. They win the index by 12 points. That's very, very high, and more than we've measured before," says Hovde about the winner.
But what exactly is it about second place and the Tesla phenomenon, and why have they gained such a huge market share in Norway?
- The product works very well. Without a doubt. They have an infrastructure around the car that works very well, with charging stations and so on. You don't need a lot of knowledge to have a Tesla. It's easy to get things working and everything works. And they have a price structure that makes you feel like you're getting a lot of car for your money. And at the end of the day, that's important to people," says Hovde.
In addition to the Car Index, winners are chosen in various sub-categories, and here are this year's winners:
BMW - Norway's most popular brand, and the brand car buyers have the best impression of.
Lexus - Best brand dealer. This brand dealer has the highest satisfaction and preference.
Skoda and Toyota - The market's opinion on which car brand fits the statement "Great value for money"
Thank you to everyone who attended this year's Car Breakfast!
