While revenues took operating profits to new heights for many of the media houses during the pandemic, the graphs plummeted as Norway recovered. Several of the major media houses in Norway have now reported significant profit declines for 2022.
Fortunately, this is not the case for Dagbladet, which can actually report its strongest operating profit in over ten years.
Last year, Dagbladet had sales of NOK 599 million, which is an increase of NOK 36 million from the previous year. With an operating profit of NOK 68.5 million and financial income of NOK 42.8 million, the final pre-tax profit was NOK 111 million.
This is three times as much as our arch-rival, Schibsted. Frode Hansen, editor-in-chief of Dagbladet, is very pleased with this.
- "Last year's results make good reading, and compared to the rest of the market, we are very pleased with these results," he says.
Dagbladet's sales revenues show that advertising revenues increased by as much as NOK 65 million from 2021 to 2022, ending at NOK 395 million. This is also more than twice as much as Dagbladet sells paper newspapers for, which is NOK 171.6 million.
- Over time, Dagbladet has strengthened its position in the Norwegian media market. The results are driven by excellent commercial work and a strengthened position in the market. We intend to continue this," says a satisfied editor-in-chief.
(Please note that Aller Media and Dagbladet have different fiscal years, which start on October 1).
