Topping the charts

Dagbladet's podcast The Boy in the Plastic Bag tops Apple's list of the most downloaded podcasts in the documentary genre and in the culture and society segment in Norway.

Two days ago, Apple placed "The Boy in the Plastic Bag" on its curated list of "new and interesting" podcasts you should listen to. Internationally, this list is considered a path to success for new podcasts, and there's a lot of competition to get on it. The results were quickly seen. Apple's list is updated several times a day, and in the last couple of days, the podcast has made solid gains in the charts.

The podcast not only tops Apple's podcast list of Norwegian and international documentaries in Norway. It also tops Apple's list of culture and society podcasts, ahead of 198 Land with Einar Tørnqvist, Hele Historien for NRK, Svarttrost Dok, Burde vært pensum for NRK and Shabanas verden for Aftenposten, among others. This is the largest category in Apple's list of podcasts.

In total, the podcast is in 6th place among all Apple podcasts in Norway, only behind podcast icons such as Seb & Niki, Forklart for Aftenposten, Oppdatert for NRK and Ida med hjertet i hånden.

-"This is very gratifying. We had hoped that the podcast would get hearts beating in the pre-Christmas period. This seems to be working. This is a very good start for the podcast," says producer Petter Leknes of Aller Social, who has collaborated with Dagbladet on the podcast.

The podcast is based on the true story of a living baby found in a plastic bag in a cemetery in Oslo in 1991. Producer Leknes believes the podcast will have a long life in the coming weeks and months.

Dagbladet's and Aller's podcasts have also had good rankings on Spotify.

The final three episodes - out of a total of ten - will be released this weekend. Episodes 8 and 9 will be released tomorrow, with the finale on Sunday.
